The Détári millions, or ‘It’s all just borrowed’: the Hungarian playmaker had won Eintracht the 1988 cup with a free kick against Bochum. Yet ten days before the start of the next season he left for Olympiakos for the equivalent of eight million euros. Years later Détári explained that Frankfurt had not actually owned his transfer rights – they had merely borrowed him from the Hungarian federation.
Which meant the money from Greece did not end up in Frankfurt either.
