UEFA Cup 1979/80: Eintracht Frankfurt’s greatest international success is the 1979/80 UEFA Cup triumph. In the only all-German final in the competition, the Hessians defeated holders Borussia Mönchengladbach over two legs. Thanks to the away-goals rule, the trophy went to Eintracht, who won the return leg at home 1:0. The hero of the evening was Fred Schaub, who scored the goal of his life four minutes after coming on.
