Alfons Berg: on May 16, 1992, referee Berg traumatized Frankfurt for decades with one non-call. In Rostock, with the title in sight, Yeboah fed Ralf Weber on the edge of the box, Weber had his leg taken away from behind, and everyone in the stadium saw a penalty – except Alfons Berg. He waved play on.
Frankfurt lost 2:1 and with it the championship. Weber kicked a camera to pieces. In the dressing room, glass bottles flew.
Berg later admitted the mistake after seeing the television pictures, which did nothing to save him from eternal Hessian wrath.
